Wiki’s have been fantastic as a concept and hugely successful though the main part of that is wikipedia, sites have sprung up playing on the name wiki as does my next site to discuss wikia. That said it is a good site and actually no bad thing to create a name a little bit similar but still distinct and unique. I have a couple of posts here too and again its a toe in the water so as to speak.
I’ll let it progress and see how this works, I’ve had links and posts in wikipedia itself over the years but never before on one of these spin off type of sites.
I did once try setting my own wiki – you can download the wiki script and even the whole of wikipedia, but I never got as far as building a site or doing any remotely interesting with all that data.
